Members of the Puducherry Deaf Society on Wednesday
staged a protest in front of the Employment Exchange here urging the
government to ensure one per cent reservation in all government
departments and private establishments for the hearing impaired.
R.
Saravanan, president of Puducherry Deaf Society, who led the protest,
said the Employment Exchange had not taken any step in the last 30 years
to provide jobs to the hearing impaired.
The
government was not responding to their needs. It was yet to fulfil many
Constitutional obligations towards them. Jobs for the hearing impaired
should be identified in every department on a priority basis.
